In 1844 Gilad Anni-Padda helps the Ma'ah Ghurdan of the Khaldiv sect to conquer Osks, the capitol of Djurkistan. However, the Geomancer knows that sometimes those who create a country are not the ones meant to rule it and, in the moment of victory, Gilad has to kill the man who trusted him.
