A product of the 1950's "Red Scare," the American Spirit is a self-proclaimed "Commie Smasher." His paranoia causes him to see Communist sympathizers everywhere, even when the people and activities are completely innocent. One such "incident" involves the American Spirit attacking an Elks Lodge, resulting in a class action lawsuit against the adventurer.
Ironically, his last active case involves an attack against an active communist group. However, the American Spirit misjudges his entrance though the building's skylight resulting in his decapitation and inevitable death.
