A criminal convicted of running most of the criminal activity in Hell’s Kitchen, Big Jim McConnel was free on bail pending sentencing when he went underground without a trace. Six months later, Big Jim had taken over as the king of the 42nd Street drug traffic, which brought him to the attention of the NYPD, who hired Dr. Hwen Mirage and his wife Carmen Ruiz of Mirage Parapsychology Inc to consult on the case. The Mirage’s tactic in dealing with McConnel was to recruit Jack Boniface through trickery into helping them, which worked, as Jack ultimately encountered Big Jim and, after a brawl, literally dropped him onto the police’s lap.
