Darque Power
From Valiant Entertainment - The Book Of The Geomancer
Necromancers have no power of their own, they manipulate a particular kind of energy given off by all creatures upon their deaths. The higher a creature sits on the evolutionary ladder, the amount of necromantic energy they release is greater. This energy does not dissipate rapidly, and, depending on the original source, can linger on for decades.
Wielders of The Darque Power
Many individuals across the face of the Earth are aware of how to manipulate the Darque Power, and while some use it for sinister purposes, others employ it for the benefit of humanity.
Jack Boniface
In a bid to rid the world from the presence of Master Darque, a 19th Century necromancer, the Coven, a group of practitioners of the mystic arts, endows Jack Boniface, a jazz player, with the Darque Power to transform him into the dark-vested hero known as Shadowman.
When Darque enlists the Spider Aliens, a race of blood-sucking extraterrestrial arachnoids, to taint his would-be nemesis, the Coven infuses an ordinary Mardi Gras mask with the Darque Power to allow Jack to acquire his new abilities gradually from it.
When the Darque Power fills him, Jack can glide, regenerate, and gains increased strength.
Master Darque
A 19th Century necromancer, Master Darque uses the energy of the Darque Power to kill, heal, and even reanimate dead tissue back into a twisted semblance of life.
While Darque has used the energy all his unnaturally long life, his understanding of it, which has been long coming, does not occur until the last decade of the 20th Century when the available necromantic energy grows exponentially after Phil Seleski, the hero called Solar, loses control of his power and destroys the Earth in an alternate temporal dimension. When Darque learns of a gateway to that great sea of necromantic energy, he rechristens it the Darque Power and learns how to tap into it and empower his servants to follow his will.
Were Master Darque to gain full access to the Darque Power, the world would be his.
