The Mirage's butler, Rico is more like a friend of the family than an employee.
Sometime before Rico met the Hwen Mirage and Carmen Ruiz, he spent time in prison for manslaughter, a crime which details remain unknown to this day. Nevertheless, Lorenzo, Carmen's ex-husband, uses this information to blackmail Rico into helping him get back together with Carmen.
The effect that Rico's decision has on his relationship with the Mirage - as well as the outcome of Lorenzo's scheme - remains a mystery to this day.
