The messenger globule is the hovering vehicle that Grandmother, the freewill caretaker of Japan, uses to ferry people to the Skull Dome, the portion of the host body located in the headlands that houses the source of her freewill.
When Japan fell into the Indian Ocean after the God-like entity called Mothergod pushed it off orbit, the impact destroyed the messenger globules.
