After Grandmother, the freewill caretaker of Japan, leaves it isolated and self-contained in orbit over the Earth following an alien invasion, the Anti-Grannies, an organization of citizens who believe that Japan's fate belongs to its people and not to a soulless machine, establish a new government palace as their seat of power in the Tokyo Enclosure.
When Japan fell into the Indian Ocean after the God-like entity called Mothergod pushed it off orbit, the impact destroyed the new government palace.
