One of the most dangerous spots in New Orleans' French Quarter, the St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery experienced a series of muggings in the early 90’s, which was why the Rangers no longer went in there and the Voodoo Museum gave tourists tours.
The ground in New Orleans was too swampy to dig graves, so they buried people above ground. One of such tomb held the remains of Marie Leveaux, the original voodoo queen, where people left her cigarettes, coins, and the odd chicken bone as offerings and pleas for help.
