Verle is presumably the second oldest member of the Bayou Cannibals, a family of rednecks that live in the bayou who kidnap and torment any innocent man or woman that gets lost in it, and by far their second strongest member after his sister, Baby June
When Shadowman comes to the cannibal’s home looking for Nettie, Verle accidentally kills his sister when he ties to shoot Shadowman. In the struggle that follows, Verle tangles himself with Albert The Gator’s chain and the crocodile eats him.
